The WWiT 2008 conference was a huge success. Thanks to all the attendees for great energy and interest. Feedback from attendees of all demographics was extremely positive. However, my biggest reason to declare success is based on a conversation I had at the evening reception. I was talking with a number of current female graduate students and they said (this is highly paraphrased but accurate in the bigger sense) “I now have confidence that I can succeed”, “I have a vision for the kind of professional I can become”, I see that although I don’t know where I will end up, if I start with confidence and I know what my life priorities are, I can make a successful career for myself”. If the results of the conference are nothing more than that, we indeed succeeded in creating a conference with impact; all due to the caliber of presenters and attendees alike.
